How Random Testing Works

How random drug and alcohol screening is completed

When an owner-operator is selected for random screening

  • We will call you and help set up random screening nearby where you are.
  • The required screening must be completed immediately without delay or it may be considered a refusal which carries the same consequences as a positive result.
  • The refusal in that case may be reported to the FMCSA clearinghouse and you will not be allowed to legally operate a commercial motor vehicle until you’ve completed the required Return-To-Duty process which will cost you significant time away from work and additional administration and screening fees.

When one of your employed drivers (non owner operators) is selected for random screening

  • We will contact you via the email address you provided us and phone,
  • We will help you find a collection site, and set up random screening electronically.
  • Failure to send an employed driver that has been selected for required random screening may result in your company being out of compliance and subject to fines from state and federal authorities.
